Congratulations, Mrs. Purtle, for receiving the James H. Atkinson Award for Excellence in the Teaching of Arkansas History! The award recognizes one outstanding elementary or secondary teacher in the state who teaches Arkansas history. Mrs. Purtle was honored for demonstrating the very best qualities of an educator: deep content knowledge, unwavering dedication to students and genuine passion. She was described as engaging, dynamic and deeply compassionate teacher who impacts students both in and out of the classroom.
